WoRD (Worshop on Remote control of Devices) is a workshop willing to make researchers from different communities meet around the issue of the remote control of appliances through the Internet. WoRD is hosted by the 3rd International Conference on Digital Information Management (ICDIM'08)


Real remote control of devices leads to several concepts, depending on the domain it is applied to. When it is govern by industrial issues, it usually refers to remote control of manufacturing systems. For some times, it is also a concern for universities and especially laboratories, who can see the remote control of device as a tool for the leverage of collaboratories. Of course, open and distance formations are also interested in providing remote laboratories to their students, hence need they remote laboratories to bring the laboratory right to the door of the students.


Obviously, those domains share a common interest in the remote control of devices. We want to offer the possiblity for researchers of all those fields of application to exchange on this common matter of interest, and share results on their more recent works.
